Kerala God’s Own Country

Kerala! God’s Own Country

It’s awesome that India has various kinds of beautiful destination to offer. From Hills to Beaches there are multiple options. If we talk about Greenest destinations, Kerala comes to my mind.

STATE INTRODUCTION – KERALA

Kerala is located India’s tropical Malabar Coast covering the vast shoreline (600 km) of the Arabian Sea. It is the only state that is situated on the Southern-most tip of India.

It has Karnataka on its north, Tamil Nadu to the east and south and Lakshadweep Sea to the west. Thiruvananthapuram is the largest city and capital of Kerala – Malayalam is the official language of the state.

Known for spice exports since 3000 BCE Kerala’s pepper and natural rubber supplies play an important part in the total national output. Owing to its vast inland water resources and the coastal belt fishery contributes significantly to the state’s income. Coconut, coffee, tea, spices, and cashew dominate the agricultural sector.

When I visited Kerala I realized that it is one of the most beautiful destination ever.

Kerala is a world famous tourist destination known for its tropical greenery, Ayurvedic tourism, backwaters, palm-bordered beaches and a network of beautiful canals. kerala adventure tourism is becoming famous as well. From rafting, safari, trekking, visiting a village , tree-mill workout, kayaking, mountain climbing, boating, bamboo rafting are some special activities in which tourist engages.

Kerala has been rated as among the top destinations to travel in India by the National Geographic Traveler’s magazine and other travel magazines, so much so, that it once even overtook Taj Mahal to become the number one destination to travel in Google’s search trends for Indian tourism.

A large number of advertisements brand Kerala with the tagline as “Kerala! God’s Own Country” owing to its picturesque lakes, waterfalls, mountain ranges, ancient historical ports, wildlife sanctuaries both for domestic and international tourists. Elephants happen t be an integral part of Kerala’s culture and are included in the daily life of Keralites.

The main beaches in Kerala are Kovalam, Fort Kochi, Varkala, Muzhappilangad (South India’s one and only drive-in beach) and Bekal to name a few. Munnar (known for tea plantation), Wayanad, Idukki are few of the many popular hill stations.

it’s not only about beaches as Munnar (known for tea plantation), Wayanad, Idukki are few of the many popular hill stations.

That’s me at the Munnar Tea Gardens. The world is so vast and beautiful and we are so small !!

If you happen to be in Kerala in the month of August do check out the annual Trophy Boat Race held annually in Punnamada. Not to miss the breathtakingly surreal backwaters that are a network of rivers, lakes, and canals interlocked around the world famous Allepey, Kumarakom, and Pathiramanal (an island).

Kerala would be incomplete without the mention of performing arts Koodiyattom which is a Sanskrit drama or theatre and a UNESCO-designated Human Heritage Art. The famous Kathakali form of dance-drama is a 500 plus year old that interprets ancient epics and is a visual delight.

One needs to visit Kerala for sure as it sure is Gods own country.

Kerala is truly God’s own country. I haven’t been there yet. In fact, I’m the only one from my family who hasn’t visited Kerala. I plan to go to Wayanad, Allepey and spend some time on houseboats <3 Beautiful pictures btw! Cheers!!

Kerala does look wonderful. My first stop in India was going to be the tourist playground of Goa, but maybe I need to rethink that after reading this.

Goa and Kerala a tough choice to choose from actually 😀 Goa is more on party side and beach hopping Kerala is laid back, serene and houseboat stays in the backwaters :)Actually visit both I would suggest 😀

Kerala is an absolute destination for adventurous travelers, indeed it was featured in many magazines, I remember one time at the airport bookshop I have read something about rafting, trekking and safari stuffs in India, and I literally forgot the name of the city, and now that you’ve mentioned it, with the help of photos in Google now I’m sure this is the one. hopefully in God’s time. (rooting to visit India)
